Subject areaMetrics and measurement
Lean Analytics is the method that applies lean to measurement: you choose one metric at a time, the one that matters most at the stage the business is in, and you work to move it.
Alistair Croll and Benjamin Yoskovitz set it out in «Lean Analytics» (2013), with the principle of the One Metric That Matters.
The book separates the metrics that drive a decision from vanity metrics, the numbers that grow and feel good while saying nothing about what to do. For marketing and sales it is an antidote to dashboards crowded with indicators: the metric changes with the stage, and at every stage there is one that decides.

An example
An accounting software company, having just launched a product, measures for one quarter only the share of customers still using it after thirty days. As long as that number stays low, sending more traffic to the site means sending more people to a product that loses them.
