Subject areaArtificial intelligence
AI slop refers to texts, images and other content generated in bulk with artificial intelligence, flat, repetitive and often full of errors, published without human review.
For a brand the damage is to reputation: readers recognise mass-produced content and stop trusting the source. The remedy is a review step with an owner before the content reaches the customer.
An example
A financial services firm publishes ten AI-generated articles a week, all with the same structure and a few wrong figures. Within months traffic falls and customers start pointing out the errors.
