Also known asmulti-company courseopen courses
Multi-company courses are courses open to people who work in different companies, with the same programme for every participant.
They are the classic form of the one to many approach, one person speaking to many, and the articles on this site place them next to "the webinars with twenty thousand participants."
Their advantage is a low cost per person and the chance to compare notes with people who work elsewhere. The consequence is a limit: since the programme has to fit everyone, it stays far from each company's processes and data, and nobody brings real problems into a room that may include competitors. For this reason, when the goal is to change a process, companies prefer in-company training.
An example
A purchasing manager at a manufacturing company attends a multi-company course on artificial intelligence alongside people from banks and professional firms: they learn the shared vocabulary, but the examples never touch their own suppliers or orders.
