Webinar

Subject areaChannels and tools

Also known asonline seminar

A webinar is a live online seminar: a speaker, or a small panel, addresses an audience connected remotely from a computer, a tablet or a phone.

The name blends the words web and seminar. Attendees follow the presentation, type their questions in the chat and can often watch the recording afterwards.

It is the typical tool of the one-to-many approach, one person speaking to many, which is why it works well to inform people and raise awareness of a topic. In the articles on this site it appears in two uses:

  • as a channel for expert talks, such as the webinar Ripartire dal Cliente promoted by Antares Vision, where Enrico Giubertoni was guest speaker;
  • as the way companies try to keep up with artificial intelligence, where excess becomes a problem. Companies say that "after a feast of webinars and conferences" they have fewer ideas and more confused ones, because content built for everyone stays far from each company's processes. This is why in-company training is the choice when the goal is to change a process.

An example

A chemical company presents its new additive range live online to its distributors: a technician walks through the safety data sheets, attendees type their questions in the chat and the recording stays available for those who missed it.
