In-company training is training designed for a single company and delivered to its own people.
In the words of the article that introduces it, it "comes into the company and works on its processes, data and opportunities, with its own people and no competitors in the room".
The useful comparison is with multi-company courses, open to participants from different companies with the same syllabus for everyone. In-company training costs more per person, but it brings two advantages:
- the material is real: exercises run on the company's own documents, data and workflows, so what people learn applies the next day;
- people speak openly: with no competitors in the room, they bring their real problems, which are where change starts.
This is why, when introducing artificial intelligence, the article pairs it with consulting: training gives people the method, consulting helps choose where to apply it.
An example
A manufacturing company that wants to use artificial intelligence to plan production brings the course into its own plant: exercises run on its orders and warehouse data, and managers discuss their problems without worrying that a competitor is listening.
