Artificial intelligence
An [AI strategic vision](/en/blog/ai-strategic-vision.html) is the conscious choice to use artificial intelligence as a strategic instrument and not only as a technology to manage.
It takes the form of questions that challenge the foundations of the business model: instead of asking how to do something faster, it asks why it is done at all. Marco Iansiti and Karim Lakhani, in Competing in the Age of AI (2020), showed that companies built around data compete with a different operating model, not with one more tool; Ajay Agrawal, Joshua Gans and Avi Goldfarb, in Prediction Machines (2018), read AI as a fall in the cost of prediction, which changes which decisions are worth taking.
An example
A company that wanted to automate its quotes realises, by asking why, that customers want a public price rather than a quote.
